Texas DPS Releases Blue Alert Regarding Death Of Houston Police Officer

Wednesday night, residents across Texas received an emergency text Blue Alert message regarding the death of a Houston Police Officer.

The alert was released by Texas Department of Public Safety in reference to the suspect wanted in the killing of Nassau Bay Police Sergeant Kaila Sullivan.

Harris County Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for Tavores Henderson, 21 years of age, of Houston. While Texas grieves the loss of Sgt. Sullivan, officials hope  Henderson is brought into custody soon.

On August 18th, 2008, Governor Rick Perry signed Executive Order RP-68, creating the state’s Blue Alert program. Blue Alerts are designed to speed in the apprehension of violent criminals who kill or seriously wound local, state, or federal law enforcement officers.
