Texas State Athletics Announces Additions To The Bobcat Club

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State Athletics announces additions to the Bobcat Club staff with Josh Keller, John Sorsby and Karina Medellin.

“We are thrilled to welcome Josh and Karina to the Bobcat Family as well as a well-deserved promotion for John,” said Travis Comer, Executive Sr. Associate Athletics Director.

Keller will take over the role of Assistant Athletic Director for Annual Giving and manage the complete operation of the Bobcat Club including but not limited to annual fund solicitations, cultivation, stewardship, strategic planning, Bobcat Bonanza, Gift In Kind, database management, Bobcat Club events, and serve as the liaison with the Bobcat Club Leadership Council.

Keller is coming to Texas State from PRIMESPORT, a leading global Sports Travel and Event Management company offering tickets, hospitality and travel for fans and corporate clients. His primary role has been in collegiate athletics working with athletic departments and alumni associations to create high-end experiences at away games and bowls.

Prior to PRIMESPORT, he spent time at the University of Oklahoma in the Sooner Club and worked with the Legends Group on the South End Zone project to secure funding through ticket sales, club seats and private gifts for OU.

“Josh will be a great asset to lead our annual fund and the Bobcat Club with his experience managing high end events and working at Oklahoma in development and ticket sales,” Comer said.

Keller earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Oregon State University where he was a member of the baseball team and a two-time NCAA Division I National Champion. He earned a Master’s Degree in sports administration from the University of Oklahoma.

Medellin joins the Bobcat Club as the Digital Media Coordinator. In this position she will be creating specialized content for donors and fans on all the Bobcat Club’s digital platforms featuring student athletes, coaches and more.

“We felt it was important to truly tell the stories of our student-athletes to give our constituents a better understanding of just how special our young men and women are,” said Comer.

Medellin began working eight years ago producing digital and on-air content as an executive producer and multimedia journalist for iHeartRadio’s news and sports talk stations in San Antonio. A 2014 Texas State alum, she joined the Texas State Sports Properties Football broadcast team as the sideline reporter for the 2018 Season.

Sorsby comes back to his alma mater where he first began his career in college athletics in 2011-2012 as an Assistant Director of Development. A former football player on the 2008 conference championship team, Sorsby will be the Director of Development for the Bobcats.

In this role, Sorsby will engage annual fund donors, assist with Bobcat Club events and work with Keller to increase support for the Bobcat Club.

“There is no doubt in my mind John will help our development office reach its full potential in the years ahead. He is passionate about Texas State and puts a lot of hard work into his career,” Comer said. “With these staff additions, while having Luke Bryant and Jordan Buys engaging our alums statewide for high impact major gifts of $25,000 or more, I think we have a talented team to help increase philanthropy.”

Between stints with the Bobcat Club, Sorsby spent six years working in sales in the private sector, most recently medical device sales.

The Bobcat Club is the principal fundraising arm of the Texas State Intercollegiate Athletics Department. It provides a way for supporters to help talented Texas State student-athletes receive a top-tier education while pursuing their goals both on and off the field of competition.

While the primary focus is providing scholarship support for student-athletes, the Bobcat Club is also focused on raising money for facilities upgrades and high impact projects that directly benefit our student-athletes.

The Bobcat Club is an organization of alumni, fans, former student-athletes, coaches and friends joining together to provide current student-athletes with a first-class education and a chance to excel both in the classroom and on the playing field. With the rising cost of school tuition, private contributions and support from our members is absolutely critical to ensure the ongoing success of our student-athletes.
