SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State Athletics announces partnership with Brown Distributing for a philanthropic gift to go towards the $62 million newly-renovated University Events Center. In recognition of the gift, Texas State will recognize Brown Distributing with the J. Dan Brown Strength and Conditioning Center in the new University Events Center.

“We are truly honored to continue this great relationship with Texas State Athletics and want to thank the University for its loyalty over the years,” VP of Brown Distributing Laurie Brown said. “With the increased visibility of athletics, an enrollment approaching 39,000 students and the vision for the future, Brown Distributing is excited about this opportunity.”

Since 1982, Brown Distributing and the Brown Family have been partners with Texas State University in a variety of capacities to help move the department forward through in-kind gift, corporate sponsorships rights and philanthropy.

Throughout the years, Brown Distributing has committed financial support to continue to enhance and impact the student-athlete experience.

“We could not be more appreciative of Dan, Laurie and the entire Brown Distributing Family for the continued support they have given us over the years,” Texas State Director of Athletics Dr. Larry Teis said. “This gift will make a huge difference in the lives of our student-athletes and moving our athletics programs forward.”

“I remember my father started this relationship when we had the warehouse in San Marcos. He has always believed that community support and involvement is a cornerstone in our business,” Laurie said. “I have carried this tradition on because I see the transformational impact we have had on Texas State University and Hays County.”

“We have had a great partnership with Brown Distributing. In fact, I had a chance to meet Dan Brown upon my arrival at Texas State, and he always shared our values in leading our institution forward,” University President Dr. Denise Trauth said. “We are very fortunate the Brown Family believes in our vision as an institution and wants to see our athletics programs be successful.”
