Texas State Prepares For Three Days Of Spring 2015 Commencement

 

Alan William Dreeben and Dionicio “Don” Flores will be presented with honorary doctoral degrees during one of seven commencement ceremonies to be held May 14-16 at Texas State University.

Dreeben is a former chair of The Texas State University System Board of Regents and currently a director of The Texas State University System Foundation. He has become one of the foundation’s most generous supporters and has funded a number of initiatives, including Grow Your Own Scholarship, to increase faculty diversity and provide mentoring models for students.

 

Flores is a former chair of The Texas State University System Board of Regents and a 1973 graduate of Texas State. He is a recipient of the university’s distinguished alumnus award and was named to the university’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication Hall of Fame in 2004. He currently serves as president of the Texas State University Alumni Association and is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Texas State University Development Foundation.

 

Dreeben’s degree, Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, will be awarded during the 2 p.m. commencement ceremony Thursday, May 14. Degree candidates from the College of Health Professionals, College of Liberal Arts (group 2) and the Graduate College will attend that ceremony.

Flores’ degree, Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, will be awarded during the 6 p.m. commencement ceremony Thursday, May 14. Degree candidates from the College of Fine Arts and Communication and the Graduate College will attend that ceremony.

 

 

Degree candidates from the College of Science and Engineering, College of Education (group 2) and the Graduate College will attend the ceremony to be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 16.

 

There are approximately 4,800 candidates for bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees at Texas State this spring.

While there is no substitute for attending a commencement ceremony in person, Texas State will stream the ceremonies live over the internet for friends and family members who are unable to attend. If needed, Texas State will also provide overflow space for viewing the live stream of the ceremony.
