TX Water Symposium Will Explore Emergent Water Issues In The 86th Legislature

Staff Reports

The Hill Country Alliance announced Tuesday, March 26, Hill Country State Representatives will gather to discuss emergent water and natural resource issues facing the region and the solutions being discussed at the Capitol.

The program, titled Water and the 2019 Legislative Session: The Outlook for Hill Country Water Resources, will be held at 7 PM on Thursday, March 28, at the Texas Capitol room E1.014 in Austin, Texas.

The 86th Texas Legislative session has begun, and lawmakers are considering bills of immediate relevance to the Texas Hill Country.

According to the Hill Country Alliance, booming population growth in the region, when coupled with extreme drought and catastrophic flooding, creates myriad management challenges in regards to water resources.

The community is encouraged to join state representatives from the Hill Country as they engage in a conversation and public question and answer session moderated by water attorney Vanessa Puig-Williams to discuss bills that address flooding, treated effluent discharges, water well protection, growth, and natural resource policy.

Panel members will include:

  • Representative Kyle Biedermann – District 73; Comal, Kendall, & Gillespie Counties
  • Representative Vikki Goodwin – District 47; Western Travis County
  • Representative Andrew Murr – District 53; Western Hill Country Counties
  • Representative Erin Zwiener – District 45; Hays and Blanco Counties

This event, hosted by the Hill Country Alliance, will be recorded for radio broadcast in partnership with Texas Public Radio. The Texas Water Symposium is free and open to the public.
