UPDATE: Two Killed In Sunday Night Crash Identified

The San Marcos Police Department released the identities of two people killed in a crash on southbound Interstate 35 near mile marker 208 Sunday night.

Forensic experts with Central Texas Autopsy used medical and dental records to identify the driver of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee as 20-year-old Andrew Martindale of Texarkana, TX.

Medical and dental records were also used to identify the passenger as 20-year-old Stephanie Salas of Del Rio, TX.

Collision investigators have determined the Jeep was traveling in excess of 100 miles per hour when it lost control and struck the back of a semi-truck with a trailer attached, which was parked off the main lanes of I-35.

Social media posts obtained by SMPD show Martindale and Salas consuming alcohol before the crash, first at a Super Bowl party in San Marcos and then later in the evening while visiting at least one bar in Austin.

Toxicology results for Martindale and Salas are pending.

Investigators are working with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission to identify licensed establishments involved.
