Due to active shooting events that have occurred recently throughout the State of Texas and our nation, many places of worship, local businesses and citizens are asking law enforcement for guidance and training on how to be better prepared should an active shooter event occur.

In order to meet these challenges as a community team the Hays County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with Precinct 4 Constable Ron Hood will be hosting a Civilian Response to Active Shooter Event (CRASE) presentation at Dripping Springs High School on December 14th from 6:30pm-8:30pm.

The presentation will be made by Hays County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant David Burns, a former U.S. Army Paratrooper and a veteran law enforcement officer and instructor with over twenty-two-years’ experience.

Lieutenant Burns is also one of the founding members of ALERRT (Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training) and has taught extensively throughout the country on how to respond to an active shooter crisis.

This session is open to the public and everyone interested is invited to attend. Additional dates and locations will be announced as they become available.

However, should a company or other organization want to schedule a specific presentation for their group please contact Lieutenant Dennis Gutierrez at the Hays County Sheriff’s Office’s Support Services Division at (512) 393-7877 to make arrangements.
