Staff Reports

WIMBERLEY – Visitors to the City of Wimberley website on Jan. 5, 2022, will experience a new, streamlined platform with more engaging content and features. The mobile friendly platform will give website visitors access from anywhere at any time.

New and enhanced City of Wimberley website is coming Jan. 5, 2022! The existing site will remain functional until that date. City leaders look forward to better communication and engagement in the New Year with the new site.

“We are pleased to announce that we entered into a contract with CivicPlus, a leading government website provider, to make important enhancements to our website. Local citizens will notice more opportunities to complete forms online, sign up for important messages and engage with city leaders,” said Mike Boese, City Administrator, Wimberley.

Some of the highlights of the new website include integration with a community feedback portal, Agenda Center, for more convenient accessibility to minutes and agendas for all boards and commissions, and Notify Me, a platform to select and subscribe to messages from the City.

“We encourage citizens to spend time on the website to find the features they use most to engage with us. Importantly, we recommend that all our citizens, take a moment to enhance their emergency preparedness by subscribing to our emergency alerts via CivicReady,” said Laura Calcote, City Secretary/Public Information Officer.

CivicReady is the City of Wimberley emergency alert system. Citizens will have easy access to subscribe to emergency alerts and other notifications via phone call, text and/or email. Existing and new subscribers to the CivicReady platform will continue to receive alerts after the new website launch.

In designing the new website, the City team put special emphasis on enhancing areas that matter most to citizens based on feedback and website user data. Areas that will have increased functionality and accessibility include:

  • online permits and payments,
  • the City directory,
  • events and calendars,
  • bridge closure information,
  • and emergency notifications.

“As we look to 2022, we continue to prioritize accessibility of resources and simplicity in doing business with city government. Topping the list is empowering our citizens to be prepared for any emergency or unexpected weather event. And a great place to begin your emergency preparedness is by subscribing to our notifications,” said Gina Fulkerson, Mayor, City of Wimberley.

The current City of Wimberley website will be operational until the new site launches in January. The web address will remain the same and website visitors will not need to make any adjustments or changes to see the new site.

The leadership of the City of Wimberley is committed to transparency, simplicity and innovation to best serve the communication priorities of local residents and visitors to the community.
