Wimberley High School GPtW, Academic Booster Club To Host Annual College, Career And Life Fair
Wimberley, Texas — Wimberley High School Generation Pave the Way (GPtW) and the Academic Booster Club (ABC) host the 4th Annual College, Career & Life Fair Thursday, September 26, 1:30 to 3:30 PM at the Wimberley High School cafeteria.
ABC is the Parent Teacher Organization at WHS, advocating for academic effort and achievement. GPtW is a district-sponsored program, connecting students and their families to additional assistance in planning their future after graduation.
The fair, which will include 50 college, trade and technical school booths and career and military representatives, is open to all students and parents in the Wimberley area.
“This year we are excited to offer a new opportunity for our students as we will have several direct-to-workforce participants at the fair, including Pedernales Electric Cooperative, Inc., additional trade and career certification providers, as well as the traditional college and university representatives ready to speak with students planning that route,” said Traci Maxwell, GPtW facilitator.
The goal of the fair is to bring a wealth of information and access to experts about career and college readiness to students in one easy location with excellent participants ready to answer any question.
“We encourage all parents and students to join us for the afternoon and to take full advantage of the great information our participating colleges and other sponsors will share with all of us,” said Chloe Williams, ABC President.
ABC supports teachers and staff at the High School in assisting with their classroom needs, supporting the UIL academic programs, providing appreciation luncheons and also offering scholarships to students interested in traditional colleges or trade schools. During the past three years, ABC has awarded more than $23,000 to WHS graduates.
