Wonder World Dr And Hunter Rd Improvements Begin Nov. 30

The City of San Marcos Engineering and Capital Improvements Department will begin multimodal improvements for pedestrian, bike, and striping access at the intersection of Wonder World Drive and Hunter Road on Monday, Nov. 30.

The planned improvements include construction of a pedestrian refuge island, sidewalks and curb ramps, installation of pedestrian signal poles, and new striping for bicycle lanes. The project will also include the removal of existing striping along Hunter Road between San Antonio Street and Wonder World Drive and the installation of a two-way left-turn lane, delineators, and signs.

Phasing of the project will be used to provide minimal disruption to traffic, and crews will place traffic detour signs and erosion control equipment at the intersection for safety.

Construction for the $713,196 project will be completed by Lone Star Sitework of Wimberley with $445,000 in federal funding being provided by the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO). The remainder of the project costs is being funded through the City’s Capital Improvements program. Construction is expected to be complete in January 2021.
