Hays County Rotary Club Raise $1571 For Turkeys Tackling Hunger

Four Rotary Clubs in Hays County joined together and raised $1,571 for the Hays County Food Bank’s “Turkeys Tackling Hunger” Campaign.

 

Rotarians with the Dripping Springs, Kyle, San Marcos (Wednesday Club), and Wimberley Clubs participated as a Team this year.

 

The funds helped the Food Bank exceed their 2015 goal of $105,000. ($109,743 was raised as of this writing).

 

Fay Cliett Gillham, President of the San Marcos Club said, “we help the community where we can as one way to live our credo of Service Above Self.”

The Hays County Food Bank, along with more than 40 partner agencies, distributed 528,964 pounds of food to more than 18,000 food insecure residents, including senior citizens and many others facing economic challenges, in 2014. “Food security” refers to the availability of food and one’s access to it. The Food Bank is a not-for-profit organization that depends on volunteers and the generosity of the public to perform its mission.
