While construction is tough on everyone, TxDOT is trying to do
everything they can to minimize disruptions.

I-35 CORRIDOR ROAD CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

MONDAY 9/17 – FRIDAY 9/21

I-35 FROM STASSNEY LANE TO WILLIAM CANNON DRIVE

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek.

New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 mainlanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

Closures are weather permitting

  • Northbound U-turn Bridge CLOSED at William Cannon. | 8 PM until 5 AM Sunday, September 16 through Monday, September 17 and 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, September 17 through Friday, September 21.

 

  • I-35 reduced to one lane in both directions under William Cannon Dr. | 10 PM until 4 AM Sunday, September 16 through Monday, September 17

 

  • I-35 frontage road alternating closures in both directions between Williamson Creek and Slaughter Ln. | 8 PM until 5 AM Monday, September 17 through Friday, September 21

 

  • Alternating I-35 closures in both directions between Williamson Creek and Slaughter Ln. | 10 PM until 4 AM Monday, September 17 through Friday, September 21

 

  • I-35 shoulder work in both directions between Slaughter Ln. and William Cannon Dr. | 7 AM until 3 PM Wednesday, September 19

 

  • William Cannon Dr. closed across I-35. Please use nearest crossover at Stassney Ln. or Slaughter Ln. | 8 PM until 5 AM Sunday, September 16 through Monday, September 17

I-35 AT OLTORF ST.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Improvements include the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improving entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads, constructing new extended entrance/exit lanes for mainlanes and ramps, and adding U-turns in both directions at Oltorf Street.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

Closures are weather permitting

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between Oltorf St. and St. Edwards Dr. Watch for flaggers. | 8 AM until 5 PM Monday, September 17 through Friday, September 21

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road closed between Oltorf St. and the Woodland Ave exit. Watch for flaggers. | 8 AM until 5 PM Monday, September 17 through Friday, September 21

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between SH 71 and Woodward St. | 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, September 17 through Friday, September 21

 

  • Northbound I-35 left lane closed between SH 71 and Oltorf St. Oltorf St. exit #232 and the following entrance ramp will also be closed. | 10 PM until 5 AM Monday, September 17 through Thursday, September 20

 

  • Eastbound Oltorf St. right turn lane closed at I-35. | 8 PM until 5 AM Tuesday, September 18 through Thursday, September 20

I-35 FROM RUNDBERG LN. TO US 290 EAST

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project includes main-lanes and frontage road reconstruction and the addition of three new flyovers at US 183.

The project also includes reconstruction of the St. Johns Avenue Bridge, the addition of frontage road U-turns on both sides, intersection bypass lanes under St. Johns Avenue in both directions, extended entrance/exit lanes, and ramp and shoulder improvements.

Closures are weather permitting

  • Powell Ln. closed at I-35. Please use Wonsley Dr. | Through early October 2018

 

  • I-35 rolling closures are expected between 51st St. and Rundberg Ln. | 6 AM until 8 AM Sunday, September 16

 

  • Southbound I-35 reduced to one lane between US 290 E. and Airport Blvd. Exit #237 and the following entrance ramp will also be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday night. | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, September 16 through Thursday, September 20

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between US 183 and St. Johns Ave. | 9 PM until 5 AM Monday, September 17 through Wednesday, September 19

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed at Rundberg Ln. Rundberg Ln. exit #241 will also be closed. | 9 PM until 5 AM Tuesday, September 18 through Thursday, September 20

 

  • Westbound US 290 ramp closed at southbound I-35. Please use the frontage road. | 9 PM until 5 AM Tuesday, September 18 through Wednesday, September 19

 

  • Eastbound SS 69 ramp closed at southbound I-35. Please use the frontage road. | 9 PM until 5 AM Tuesday, September 18 through Wednesday, September 19

I-35 AT FM 3406

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The intersection of FM 3406 and the I-35 frontage roads are being improved, and the FM 3406 bridge over I-35 is being reconstructed.

The FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd) bridge will close to eastbound traffic. Westbound traffic will detour to the newly constructed U-turn Bridge. | Until summer 2018, weather permitting.

Closures are weather permitting

  • Southbound I-35 right lane closed between RM 1431 and FM 3406. The FM 3406 exit will also be closed. | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, September 16 through Thursday, September 20

 

  • Southbound I-35 reduced to one lane between Westinghouse Rd. and RM 1431. | 9 PM until 5 AM Wednesday, September 19 through Thursday, September 20

 

  • Various FM 3406 closures in both directions across I-35. | 8 PM until 5 AM Wednesday, September 19 through Thursday, September 20

I-35 MAINTENANCE PROJECTS

  • I-35 closures in both directions between RM 150 and Robert S. Light Blvd. | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, September 16 through Thursday, September 20

 

  • Various southbound I-35 ramp closures between Manor Rd. and Holly St. Please use other ramps. | 10 PM until 5 AM Monday, September 17 through Tuesday, September 18

 

  • Various northbound I-35 ramp closures between Manor Rd. and Holly St. Please use other ramps. | 10 PM until 5 AM Wednesday, September 19 through Thursday, September 20

 

  • Various northbound I-35 upper level ramp closures between 12th St. and Airport Blvd. Please use other ramps. | 10 PM until 5 AM Thursday, September 20 through Friday, September 21

I–35 FROM US 79 TO SH 45 NORTH

PROJECT OVERVIEW | New braided ramps (where one ramp crosses over the other) are being constructed along the northbound I-35 mainlanes between Hester’s Crossing and RM 620 to eliminate merging conflicts.

The northbound and southbound intersections of US 79 and the I-35 frontage roads are also being reconstructed to add a third left-turn for westbound US 79.

  • Various northbound I-35 closures between Hesters Crossing and RM 620. | 8 AM until 3 PM Monday, September 17 through Friday, September 21

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between US 79 and RM 620. | 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, September 17 through Friday, September 21

 

  • Northbound I-35 entrance ramp closed at Hesters Crossing. | 9 PM until 5 PM Monday, September 17 through Tuesday, September 18
