Hays County Food Bank Announces New Leadership

The Hays County Food Bank (HCFB) Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Eleanor Owen-Oshan has been chosen to fill the position of Executive Director, effective July 1, 2019.

Ms. Owen-Oshan has worked at HCFB since September 2017.

Prior to this promotion, she served as Programs Director and Development and Events Coordinator with the food bank.

She has over 20 years of leadership experience in the private sector.

“Eleanor possesses a deep understanding of and commitment to our mission.  She brings a wealth of knowledge about the organization and the communities we serve, and she will be a strong asset as we work to advance Board priorities and create a well-nourished community,” said Jamie Lee Case, HCFB President.  “It’s been a joy to see her grow her career over the years, and we are thrilled to have her lead this organization.”

Currently, her community involvement includes serving on the San Marcos Human Services Advisory Board, The Village Board of Directors, and CASA Centex as a Court Appointed Special Advocate representative for Central Texas.

Ms. Owen-Oshan is a long-time resident of San Marcos and has watched her city and county grow. The growing population, cuts to SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), and increased cost of living have all led to an even greater need for food assistance, but Ms. Owen-Oshan says she is ready to take on the challenge with the help of her small but mighty team.

Owen-Oshan will succeed Denise Blok, who accepted the Chief Operations Officer position with Central Texas Food Bank in February of this year.
