Hays County Food Bank Updates Modified Food Distributions

Due to limited resources (staff, volunteers, food, and gathering limitations), Hays County Food Bank will have modified distributions until at least May 1st. The situation will be re-evaluated after that. 

All distributions will be drive-thru and volunteers and staff will provide pre-packed bags of food. Volunteers and staff will be practicing safe social distancing and will be wearing gloves.

These distributions are intended for households most in need, and only qualifying households will be able to pick up grocery items.

In order to qualify for food assistance, households must meet one of the following:

  • Have a household income at or below the 185% of the Federal Poverty Level. 

  • Participate in one of the following government assistance programs:

    • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

    • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)

    • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

    • National School Lunch Program (free or reduced school meals)

    • Medicaid

  • Have a temporary food emergency such as a loss of job, loss of sole provider, etc.

Central Texas Food Bank and Hays County Food Bank also encourage everyone in need to visit the Mobile Pantry on Tuesday, April 7, at 8:30 AM at San Marcos Toyota Rattler Stadium.

This is a recurring distribution that happens every first Tuesday of the month.

The food bank offices are closed to the public, but if residents would like to make a donation, please call them at (512) 392-8300 x230 and schedule their donation drop-off.

  • Financial donations

  • Reusable grocery totes

  • Clean paper/plastic bags

  • Hand sanitizer

  • Hand soap

  • Gloves

  • Canned meat (tuna, chicken, salmon)

  • Canned fruits

  • Canned mixed veggies

  • Canned soups

  • Canned tomato products
