Registration Opens For New Life Long Learning Classes In San Marcos

The Parks and Recreation Department works to provide the citizens and visitors of San Marcos the highest level of programs, parks, facilities, and services that will positively enhance our vision of the community.

San Marcos Parks and Recreation is offering new Life Long Learning courses for the greater San Marcos area beginning in July. The classes are primarily for those age 50 and above, but adults of any age are welcome to register.

A minimum number of registrants is required for these classes.

 1. Toned Paper Portraits – Art Class

Fridays, July 6, 13, 20, 27, Aug. 3, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Cephas House, 213 W. MLK. Cost is $50 and is presented by Roxana Tuff,  a metalsmith and illustrator who holds a BFA in Painting and Drawing and an MFA in Painting.                                         

 2. Watercolor Landscapes – Art Class

Fridays, July 6, 13, 20, 27, Aug. 3, 2018 from 1:30 – 4 p.m. at the Cephas House. Cost is $50 and is presented by Roxana Tuff.                                                                                                      

 3. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Classes (CPR) – 3 separate classes

Each class is a one-day training beginning at 10:30 a.m. and ending and at 5:30 p.m. at the San Marcos Activity Center: Saturday, July 28, Saturday, Aug. 4 (in Spanish), and Saturday, Sept. 29. Cost is $55. Instructors will be advanced members of the Medical Explorer program at Texas State University.

4. Your Personal Universe:  Learn to see the Universe Differently

Tuesdays , Sept. 4, 11, 18, 25 and Oct. 2, 9, 16, and 23  at the San Marcos Activity Center. The cost is $25 and is presented by Russell Doescher, retired Texas State University senior lecturer in physics and faculty director of the observatory at Texas State.
