Applications Available For LEGIT Internship Program

The City of San Marcos, in partnership with the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce and San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District, is currently accepting applications for the LEGIT Summer Internship Program.

LEGIT stands for principles the students will encounter during the program: Learning, Experience, Groundwork, Instruction, and Training. Students will acquire real-world experience and knowledge to further develop their skills in the workplace.

The program, designed for incoming high school sophomores and juniors, will be held from June 5 to Aug. 15 and will require each participant to complete 100 hours. The supervisor at the host site will determine weekly hours based on the student’s schedule. Participants must be at least 14 years old.

If selected for the program, participants will be placed at one of the several host agencies based on preferences selected in their application. Agencies include the Hays County Food Bank, San Marcos Animal Shelter, City of San Marcos Main Street Program, City of San Marcos Youth Services Division, San Marcos Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Hays & Caldwell Counties, and the County Clerk’s office.

Applications are now available and can be found at http://sanmarcostexas.com/summer-internship-program/. Paper applications are also available at the San Marcos High School CTE Office. All applications are due on May 15.
