Cut Fiber Line Causes Widespread Phone Outage In Hays County

The 911 system in Hays County is down Tuesday afternoon due to a cut fiber line.

The Kyle and San Marcos Police Departments, and Hays County Sheriff’s office are experiencing an outage with their 911 systems.

According to Hays County, citizens may also be experiencing difficulties placing calls on cell phones and land lines depending who their telephone provider is.

Emergency 911 calls are being routed to local agencies in neighboring counties until services are restored. San Marcos Residents can also call 512-753-2108 to get in touch with SMPD.

An ETA on how long it would take to restore services was not announced. This story will be updated when more information is available.
