TDEM Offering Free COVID Testing In San Marcos, Kyle

The Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM), City of San Marcos and Hays County are partnering to provide additional free COVID testing at locations in San Marcos and Kyle from 10 AM to 2 PM next week from Monday, Aug. 24, to Saturday, Aug. 29.

The San Marcos COVID mobile testing site will be at San Marcos High School (2601 Rattler Rd) and the Kyle mobile testing site will be at the Hays CISD Performing Arts Center (979 Kohlers Crossing).

“We are pleased to bring additional free COVID-19 testing opportunities to Hays County,” said Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra. “We know how important testing is to continue to battle COVID-19.”

Tests will be administered on a first-come, first-served basis. All participants will be required to wear a face cover/mask while at the testing site.

“By offering free testing to our communities each day for a full week, TDEM is helping us remove the cost and time barriers that many of our residents face,” said City of San Marcos Director of Public Safety Chase Stapp. “We hope that anyone who would like to be tested will take advantage of this opportunity.”

Testing will be open to all ages. Participants are asked not to eat or drink anything 30 minutes prior to a test.

Test results are expected to be delivered 72-96 hours after a test is administered.

Testing at the two sites will be conducted by Davaco, with whom TDEM has developed a public-private partnership.
