Dripping Springs plan to increase trash & recycle rates

DRIPPING SPRINGS, TEXAS – The rates for the City of Dripping Springs residential trash and recycling collection services are scheduled to increase following the June 7th City Council Meeting.

Waste Connections Lone Star, Inc. provides Dripping Springs residents with trash, recycling, and bulk collection services on a weekly basis.

The City recently received a petition from Waste Connections to increase the rates for residential services. John Harris, District Manager for Waste Connections, said the petition comes after making every effort to overcome increases in the cost of operations.

“We have done our best to mitigate the effects of rate increases from our vendors, higher fuel costs, and higher employee wages by remaining as efficient as possible in our daily operations,” Harris said.

The 8.5% rate increase is in line with changes to the US Consumer Price Index over the past year. A breakdown of the previous and new rates for residential services is provided below.

The New Rates will be made effective July 1, 2022.

  Previous Rates New Rates
95-Gallon Trash Collection (Weekly) $13.75 $14.92
95-Gallon Recycle Collection (Weekly) (Optional) $5.50 $5.97

*The above rates are subject to the City of Dripping Springs 7% franchise fee and state and local sales tax.
