Bowlers Compete To Raise Funds For Hays County Food Bank
In 2016, Hays County Food Bank and its 20+ partner agencies distributed 679,456 pounds of food to an average of 8,500 food insecure residents each month.
February is the month of love. We buy flowers for our significant others, a new toy for our beloved fur-babies, or have dinner with family to celebrate.
Regardless of relationship status, Hays County Food Bank also encourages community members to share a little love for those less fortunate. In 2016, an average of ~8,500 individuals relied on food assistance and nutrition education from the food bank.
One way to open your heart is by participating in Hunger STRIKE, an annual bowling tournament held to raise funds for general food bank operating costs.
Teams of five will meet at Sunset Bowling Lanes in San Marcos on Friday, February 24th, from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Participants will enjoy an afternoon of fun, food, and some friendly competition.
They will also have the chance to bid on exciting items in a silent auction. The auction launched online on Friday, February 17th and will continue to run until 3:30 the day of the event.

Several local businesses have already committed to participate. HEB is this year’s Platinum Sponsor. Representatives from the 2 stores in San Marcos, as well as the ones in Buda and Kyle will come to bowl.
Ozona Bank and Central Texas Medical Center will also be present as this year’s Gold Sponsors. Teams from a variety of companies and clubs will round out the rest of the lanes.
Competition is sure to be fierce! First and second place teams will win a trophy and bragging rights for a year. Individuals will also compete against each other for the highest single game score (men’s and women’s).
