Fischer Store Bridge Reconstruction

Following news from the Texas Department of Transportation that the agency had let the contract for rebuilding of the Fischer Store Road Bridge at the Blanco River in southwestern Hays County, Precinct 3 Commissioner Will Conley said, “Rebuilding after this tragedy is a team effort. We appreciate TXDOT working with us to make this a priority so that our affected citizens can return to their normal lives as quickly as possible.”
The bridge was destroyed during the Memorial Weekend flood, causing residents in that area to travel 50-plus miles or more one way to reach Wimberley, Dripping Springs or Austin. Fire and EMS service to the area is being supplied by Comal County agencies.
Construction on the permanent bridge could begin as soon as October. The County continues to pursue the possibility of installing a temporary bridge.
In June, TxDOT agreed to fund the estimated $2.9 million bridge project and were optimistic the bridge could be completed “in about a year.”
