The ACCEYSS Network Opens University-Community Resource Center In San Marcos

On Tuesday, the Hays County Commissioners Court approved a proclamation recognizing the ribbon cutting and grand opening the ACCEYSS Network Opens University-Community Resource Center in San Marcos.

The center, located at 174 S. Guadalupe St. Suite 105, held its grand opening on Jan. 21 at 11 AM. The event began with a ribbon-cutting and was followed by tours of the facility.

The P2P Movement dba ACCEYSS Network is a 501c3 nonprofit coalition focused on providing underrepresented and underserved youth and families with access to STEM and Agriculture pathways through Entrepreneurship and the Arts (i.e., STEEAAM pathways).

ACCEYSS, which stands for the Association of Collaborative Communities Equipping Youth for STEEAAM Success, was founded by Dr. Shetay Ashford-Hanserd as one of 70 two-year, design and development launch pilots across the nation funded by the National Science Foundation’s INCLUDES program.

As part of this project, she led the design of the ACCEYSS Informal K-12 STEM Curriculum Framework Model and launched the ACCEYSS Network with the inaugural partners from the Greater San Marcos region.

The ACCEYSS U-CRC is dedicated to equipping faith-based and community organizations that have a shared vision of closing the STEM equity and racial wealth gap in our region with connections, funding, and resources.

The ACCEYSS Network invites researchers, educators, entrepreneurs, community organizers, faith leaders, industry partners, and supporters to utilize the U-CRC’s shared resources; whether it’s a training space or meeting room for their own employees, a quiet office space without a long-term lease, or a place to connect with like-minded individuals striving to make a powerful difference in their community.

The ACCEYSS Network Community Resource Center is available to both members and non-members alike.

“We’re building STEM and agriculture pathways that are infused with entrepreneurship and the arts because we recognize the creativity and innovation for our region,” Dr. Ashford-Hanserd said.

Commissioners thanked Dr. Ashford-Hanserd for “investing in our community” and said they appreciated all of her work to bring the center to reality.
