San Marcos Update: Road Construction,Traffic, Tax–Free Weekend Closures

Projects affecting San Marcos traffic August 9-15, 2015

 

TAX-FREE WEEKEND CLOSURE: The northbound McCarty Lane exit ramp and southbound Centerpoint Road exit ramp will be closed on Saturday, Aug. 8 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. to accommodate increased traffic at the outlet malls. Police officers will direct traffic during the closures and dynamic signs on the interstate will notify motorists of the closed exit ramps. City of San Marcos Transportation Dept., 512.393.8036

 

Additionally, Union Pacific Railroad has plans to close Posey Rd. at the railroad tracks on Sunday, Aug. 9 at 8 a.m. to install new rails, ties, and pads. The work is expected to take 8 hours to complete.

 

LOOP ST: As part of the City’s new pavement management program to provide preventative maintenance to the City streets, mill and asphalt overlay maintenance will be starting on Hazelton St from Loop St. to Perkins St. and Alto from Loop St. to Viola Street on August 3, 2015. Project is scheduled to last 4 to 6 weeks, weather permitting. Please park your vehicle off the street or it may be towed at your expense. City of San Marcos Street Dept., 512.393.8036

 

HWY 35 Northbound: On August 9, 2015, starting at 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. TxDot will close Exit 205 north bound and the outside lane on the frontage road just south of SH 80 for pavement repairs. TxDOT, 512.353.1061

 

300-400 Block Mariposa: All lanes in both directions will be closed for sanitary sewer rehabilitation on August 3 – 14, 2015 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Insituform Technologies LLC, 713.845.3016

 

LP82 FROM POST RD THROUGH WEST OF LAUREL ST.:  Rotating lane closures will maintain at least one lane of traffic for either direction for the installation of a water line crossing on August 10 – 14, 2015 beginning at 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. TxDOT/Jordan Foster Construction, 512.619.4676 or 512.750.5189

 

DIXON/BISHOP ST: Roadway paving will begin from Dixon St to 350 ft north of Bishop St on August 10 – 14, 2015 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. TxDOT/Dan Williams Company, 512.585.3177 or 830.237.6027

 

PATTON BETWEEN KNOX AND WAVELL: All lanes in both directions will be closed for a culvert construction on July 27th through August 17, 2015. Street will be re-opened at end of construction time period. Smith Construction Company, 512.694.2552

 

100 BLOCK BETWEEN JOWERS ACCESS & AQUARENA SPRINGS: All lanes in both directions will be closed for Texas State Commencements on August 7, 2015 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Texas State University Police Dept., 512.245.6272

 

JACOB LANE: On Jacob Lane between Easton Dr. and Trail Ridge Pass, the street will be closed for installing a water waste water tie-in on August 10 – 19, 2015 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. DNT Construction, LLC, 512.837.6700

 

TRAIL RIDGE PASS: All lanes in both directions will be closed for installing a water waste water tie-in to Trail Ridge Pass west of Jacobs Lane on August 10 – 19, 2015 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. DNT Construction, LLC, 512.837.6700

 

100 BLOCK BETWEEN JOWERS ACCESS & AQUARENA SPRINGS: The Residential Hall at Texas State University will be hosting their move in/check in at Strahan Coliseum on August 15 and August 16, 2015 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. All lanes in both directions will be closed for regular traffic. SH 80 BETWEEN CHEATHAM & RIVER ROAD: West bound SH 80 will have alternating lane closures for paving on August 2 through August 6, 2015 starting at 5 a.m. daily. TxDOT/Angelbrothers Construction, 979-229-9518

 

300-400 BLOCK OF STAGECOACH TRAIL: One lane going west bound will be closed for construction of a new westbound lane on July 22, 2015 through Aug. 30, 2015 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cox Commercial Construction, 512.848.4446

 

OLD BASTROP RD: Crews will begin to stripe the pavement on Rattler Rd. to SH 123. The project will last approximately three weeks, weather permitting. No detours; traffic crews will use flaggers as needed. City of San Marcos Traffic Dept., 512.393.8036

 

TxDOT HUNTER ROAD (FM 2439) PROJECT: Two way traffic has been restored between Dixon and Bishop Street. Various lane closures will continue on Hunter Road between Wonder World Drive and Bishop Street will through the Fall 2015 for road, bridge, drainage, bicycle and pedestrian improvements. HWY 80 FROM CLAREWOOD TO IH-35: TxDot is widening SH 80 from Clarewood to IH-35 to allow a second left lane for traffic traveling from SH 80 to South IH-35. Construction will last approximately three months, weather permitting. TxDOT, 512.924.1715

 

100 BLK WESTWOODS & 200 BLK OF TALBOT: Portions of West Woods Street and Talbot Street will be under construction, with alternating lane closures and one-way through traffic with flaggers present for the installation of sanitary sewer site utilities. Vehicles will still be able to access Woods Street garage and the Alkek parking garage during this phase of construction. All lanes will be fully open to traffic on Friday Aug. 14, 2015. NORTH LBJ AT YOUNGER: Younger will remain closed until the end of August 2015 in conjunction with the N. LBJ reconstruction project for street, sidewalk, drainage, water and wastewater improvements. Younger Street can be accessed from Chestnut during this time. Engineering/Capital Improvements, 512.393.8130

 

EAST SAN ANTONIO STREET: Every Saturday from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.  Half a block of street closed from the alley to N. LBJ for the Farmers Market on the Square. Main Street Program, 512.393.8430

 

LONG TERM ROAD PROJECTS:

 

  • NORTH LBJ FROM CAMARO WAY TO CRADDOCK: This road will be open to two-way traffic, but the lanes will be shifted west to allow space for the City contractor to construct a new lift station on the corner of N. LBJ and Craddock. Project will last until summer 2016. Engineering/Capital Improvements, 512.393.8130
  • 1500 BLOCK N LBJ: One lane going north bound will be closed for lift station improvements on July 22, 2015 through April 21, 2016. Prota Construction, Inc. 787-528-3171
  • MOORE STREET: Moore Street is closed from Read to Holland Street until 2016 for dormitory construction. Texas State University FPDC, 512.245.2202
  • NORTH LBJ: Until August of 2015. Reconstruction project for street, sidewalk, drainage, water and wastewater improvements. Motorists will be detoured one way northbound on LBJ from Forest to Holland Streets and will use Chestnut as a southbound route during construction. Engineering/Capital Improvements, 512.393.8130
