Need To Know Road Closures For US 183

 

Sunday (5/20) from 6 pm to 6 am, the US 183 southbound mainlanes on the historic Montopolis Truss Bridge will be closed. All traffic will detour to Shady Lane and take the southbound 7th Street bridge to US 183 southbound. Expect Delays. If traveling to the airport, plan ahead.

Monday through Thursday (5/21-24) from 9 am to 4 pm, the US 183 southbound frontage road will be reduced by one lane from US 290 to Manor/Springdale Road.

Monday through Thursday (5/21-24) from 8 pm to 6 am, the US 183 southbound mainlanes will be closed at the Colorado River. Detour by exiting at Bolm Road and follow detour signs along Levander Loop to reach Airport Blvd. From there, take the Airport Blvd entrance ramp to US 183 southbound. Expect Delays. If traveling to the airport, plan ahead.

Monday through Thursday (5/21-24) from 8 pm to 6 am, there will be major construction activity at US 183 and MLK Jr. Blvd. On Monday and Tuesday, the US 183 northbound mainlanes will be closed; traffic to detour by exiting for MLK Jr. Blvd, traveling through the signaled intersection to the entrance ramp to US 183 northbound.

On Wednesday and Thursday, the US 183 southbound mainlanes will be closed; traffic to detour by exiting for MLK Jr. Blvd, traveling through the signaled intersection to the entrance ramp to US 183 southbound. On all four days of this activity, MLK Jr. Blvd will be closed in both directions over US 183. Eastbound traffic will detour on US 183 to turn around at TechniCenter Drive; westbound traffic will detour on US 183 to turn around at 51st Street. Expect delays.

Tuesday (5/22) from 8 pm to 6 am, southbound US 183 at SH 71 will be closed. All southbound traffic will detour by exiting for westbound SH 71, taking the U-turn at E. Riverside Drive, and heading eastbound on SH 71 to the US 183 southbound exit. Expect Delays. If traveling to the airport, plan ahead.

The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (CTRMA) is an independent government agency created in 2002 to improve the transportation system in Williamson and Travis counties.

According to their website, their mission is “to implement innovative, multi-modal transportation solutions that reduce congestion and create transportation choices that enhance quality of life and economic vitality.”

The Mobility Authority was created and operates under the Texas Transportation Code Chapter 370 and is authorized under state law to implement a wide range of transportation systems including roadways, airports, seaports and transit services.

The Mobility Authority is authorized to issue revenue bonds to fund projects and can utilize user fees and/or taxes to fund operations and repay bonds.
