Amazon surprised members of the Rattler Robotics Team at San Marcos High School with a $10,000 donation.

The donation will support science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education at San Marcos High School and improve the robotics team’s competitiveness at the FIRST Robotics Competition.

At an event today, Amazon General Manager Thu Tran and local Amazon employees surprised the students with a donation.

In addition to the grant funding, the donation included tools and machinery which allows the students to construct a practice robot which will help them fine-tune programming, vision processing, designs and driver performance before their robotics competition.

The donation is part of Amazon’s ongoing commitment to give back in local communities where its associates work and live. This stop is one of two donation events that Amazon has made recently on the I-35 corridor for a total of $15,000 in donations to support STEM programs.
