City Of Kyle Asks Residents To Suspend Unnecessary Water Usage

The City of Kyle is asking residents to suspend all unnecessary water usage until the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority (GBRA) restores surface water power.

The GBRA operates the San Marcos surface water treatment plant, and the City of Kyle is a customer. Kyle receives up to 4.8 million gallons of water per day, but due to power outages, the GBRA has not been able to supply water from Lake Dunlap to the surface water treatment plant.

Reoccurring power outages have also limited the City of Kyle from being able to produce water from our groundwater wells, which has limited capacity as well.

GBRA crews were unable to assess the situation until today, due to the road conditions but are currently working to get the pump station back online.

The City has not been given a timeframe for when the pump station will be operational. But the city is asking residents to conserve water during this period until surface water power is restored.
