Breaking: Buda Searches For Suspects Involved In Vandalism At Jackson Tyler Norris Memorial Skate Park
“It’s incredibly disrespectful not just to the City to destroy City property but the pain it brings to the family and Jackson’s friends. It’s incredibly hurtful,” said Rebecca Norris, Jackson’s Mother.
Over the past six months, the City of Buda has seen an increased amount of vandalism at Jackson Tyler Norris Memorial Skate Park located at 480 South Loop 4.
The latest incident involved the uprooting of a memorial tree. The tree was then hung upside down on the pergola.
The park was named after 15-year-old Jackson Tyler Norris. On June 22, 2011, Jackson was hit and killed by a car in Lockhart while he was skateboarding.
Jackson’s family chose to donate his organs. The seven organ recipients are remembered at the park by seven figures etched on the wall and seven tree plantings.
Other examples of recent vandalism include:
- Severe restroom vandalism
- Paint tagging (derogatory words)
- Fence vandalism
- Maintenance closet and electric panel broken into

“We would like for the public to keep an eye out for people that are loitering and who shouldn’t be here late at night after a certain time,” said Anthony Norris, Jackson’s Father.
Vandalism is considered Criminal Mischief and its penalty varies depending on the amount of damage. The lowest penalty is a Class C misdemeanor and goes all the way to a first degree felony.
