Hays County Commissioners Court Proclaims Corrections Officers and Employees Week

Acknowledging that correctional employees work in very demanding and stressful situations, the Hays County Commissioners Court proclaimed the week of May 1-7 as National Correctional Officers and Employees Week in Hays County and thanked them for their dedication and service to our communities.

Correctional officers and employees are responsible for the custody, care and reform of thousands of offenders every year as well as the maintenance of safe and secure facilities – they are some of the most resourceful, capable, committed, patient and persistent professionals in criminal justice, according to the proclamation.

While each member of the Court personally thanked the jail staff, County Judge Bert Cobb, M.D., also suggested that anyone seeking an honorable profession in law enforcement might want to consider employment at the jail.
