Main Street Calls for ‘Love Downtown’ Award Nominations

The San Marcos Main Street Program is calling for nominations for the 2016 Love Downtown Awards. Main Street is commemorating 30 years of connecting, creating and celebrating downtown. The 2016 Downtown Awards will honor downtown businesses and volunteers for their contributions to downtown throughout the year.

Celebrate your favorite businesses by nominating them for an award. Nominations are being accepted for Business of the Year, New Business of the Year and Downtown Legend of the Year.

The kick-off for nominations began at the San Marcos Chamber Business Expo and will continue to be accepted until Oct. 1, 2016.  Honorees will be selected by a nomination committee and announced at the Love Downtown Awards ceremony at the Hays County Courthouse on Oct. 14, 2016.

This year’s awards will celebrate the Main Street Program’s 30 years of growing and developing downtown San Marcos. Nominations will be considered by the strides that honorees have made to carry out Main Street’s new vision for downtown: “To foster a downtown that is a unique and culturally vibrant destination, where local businesses thrive and people of all ages can connect, create and celebrate.”

Last year’s winners included Red Bud Roasters for New Business of the Year, The Marc for Business of the Year and Café on the Square received the Downtown Legend Award. The Main Street Program’s Love Downtown Awards ceremony is free and open to the public. Love of community, culture and being a place for all to connect is the goal of the San Marcos Main Street Program. Nominate your favorite local businesses and join downtown for an evening of connecting, creating and celebrating.
