I-35 AT POSEY ROAD

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project will construct a new overpass on I-35 over Posey Road, add two new U-turns in each direction at Posey Road, perform ramp reversals and convert two-way frontage roads to one-way.

Currently, the I-35 mainlanes go under Posey Road. The new configuration will have the I-35 mainlanes going over Posey Road.

• North and southbound Posey Road bridge closed at I-35. | Until further notice

 

• Northbound I-35 exit #199 for Posey Road and exit #200 for Centerpoint Road are closed. | Until further notice

 

• Northbound I-35 frontage road closed nightly from York Creek Road to Posey Road. | Thursday, Oct. 3 through Thursday, Oct. 10 from 9 PM until 5 AM

I-35 FROM STASSNEY LANE TO WILLIAM CANNON DRIVE

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek.

New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 mainlanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

• Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed daily from Colonial Park Boulevard to Williamson Creek Drive. | Monday, Oct. 7 through Tuesday, Oct. 8 from 9 AM until 3 PM

 

• Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed daily at Stassney Lane. | Monday, Oct. 7 through Tuesday, Oct. 8 from 9 AM until 3 PM

 

• Northbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane nightly at William Cannon Drive. | Monday, Oct. 7 through Wednesday, Oct. 9 from 8 PM until 5 AM

 

• Northbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane nightly at Stassney Lane. | Monday, Oct. 7 through Friday, Oct. 11 from 8 PM until 5 AM

 

• Northbound I-35 left two lanes closed nightly at Stassney Lane. The Stassney Lane entrance ramp will also be closed. | Monday, Oct. 7 through Friday, Oct. 11 from 9 PM until 5 AM

I-35 AT OLTORF ST.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Improvements include the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improving entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads.

Additionally, construction of new extended entrance/exit lanes for mainlanes and ramps, and adding U-turns in both directions at Oltorf Street.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

• Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed nightly from St. Edwards Drive to Woodward Street. | Monday, Oct. 7 through Tuesday, Oct. 8 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

• Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed nightly from Oltorf Street to Woodland Avenue. | Monday, Oct. 7 through Wednesday, Oct. 9 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

• Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed from SH 71 to Woodward Street. | Tuesday, Oct. 8 from 9 AM until 3 PM

I-35 FROM RUNDBERG LN. TO US 290 EAST

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project includes main-lanes and frontage road reconstruction and the addition of three new flyovers at US 183.

The project also includes reconstruction of the St. Johns Avenue Bridge, the addition of frontage road U-turns on both sides, intersection bypass lanes under St. Johns Avenue in both directions, extended entrance/exit lanes, and ramp and shoulder improvements.

• Southbound US 183 frontage road left lane closed nightly from Carver Avenue to Providence Avenue. The Cameron Road exit ramp will also be closed. | Sunday, Oct. 6 through Thursday, Oct. 10 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

• Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed nightly from US 290 East to Exit #239. Exit #239 will also be closed. | Sunday, Oct. 6 through Wednesday, Oct. 9 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

• Southbound I-35 left two lanes closed nightly from Rundberg Lane to St. Johns Avenue. | Monday, Oct. 7 through Thursday, Oct. 10 from 10 PM until 5 AM

 

• Northbound I-35 right lane closed nightly from US 290 East to St. Johns Avenue. The US 290 East entrance ramp will also be closed. | Tuesday, Oct. 8 through Thursday, Oct. 10 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

• North and southbound Wonsley Drive reduced to one lane at I-35. | Wednesday, Oct. 9 from 9 AM until 3 PM

I-35 FROM 1431 TO FM 3406 (NORTHBOUND)

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The intersection of FM 3406 and the I-35 frontage roads are being improved, and the FM 3406 bridge over I-35 is being reconstructed.

The FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd) bridge will close to eastbound traffic. Westbound traffic will detour to the newly constructed U-turn Bridge.

• Northbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane from Jeffrey Way to RM 1431. | Through late 2020

I-35 FROM US 79 TO SH 45 NORTH

PROJECT ACTIVITY | New braided ramps (where one ramp crosses over the other) are being constructed along the northbound I-35 mainlanes between Hesters Crossing and RM 620 to eliminate merging conflicts.

I-35 AT PARMER LANE

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Reduced congestion, improved mobility at Parmer Lane and Lamar Boulevard, operational efficiency, more reliable travel times, lower fuel consumption. The start date is summer 2019 and is scheduled to be completed summer of 2021. The construction costs are estimated to be $24.6 million.
