Eye Of The Dog Art Center Announces 9th Annual Dirt Dauber Festival Date

SAN MARCOS, TEXAS – – More than 40 area clay artists, live music, a variety of demonstrations, Kid’s Clay Play area and refreshments are among the highlights of the 9th Annual Dirt Dauber Festival slated to take place May 18 and May 19 at Eye of the Dog Art Center (EOTDAC) in San Marcos.

Dirt Dauber offers a free, family-friendly way to enjoy and learn more about clay arts on the unique, 12-acre campus of EOTDAC. The eclectic site features a visual treat of art installations, unique buildings — including a large open studio, a gallery, private studios, and a wooded courtyard that serves as home to an outdoor kitchen, stage and most of the clay artists’ booths for the two-day event.

After sustaining a devastating loss to a number of buildings on campus as well as the home of its founders in a 2015 flood, the Center has bounced back bigger and better than ever. Several new private studios have been added to the campus and an expanded offering of ongoing classes, workshops and gallery events now fills a year-round calendar.

The Dirt Dauber Festival live music lineup for the two days includes Ace Pepper/ Pepper’s Blues, Wilkinson Quartet, City of Light Music, Tracy Weinberg, Too Strange for Sisterdale and more.

In addition, one of the annual highlights of the Festival are a number of clay-related contests through which participants can pick up annual bragging rights and one of the much-coveted trophies created each year by Eye co-founder, Billy Ray Mangham. This year’s models are sure to attract even more participants.

As always, the Festival is free to enter and park and will feature refreshments and an extremely laid-back vibe to enjoy the local art scene and purchase some truly unique works.

EOTDAC is located at 405 Valley View West Rd. in San Marcos. For more information about the 9th Annual Dirt Dauber Festival, including a list of participating artists, please call (512) 558-1723, email: beverlymangham@gmail.com or visit www.eyeofthedog.com
