Loop 82 Closed Nightly For Overpass Construction

Crews will be setting steel bridge beams for the new overpass.

AUSTIN – Starting Tuesday, Sept. 5 Loop 82 (Aquarena Springs Drive) will be closed in San Marcos Sunday through Thursday nights, so the Texas Department of Transportation can continue building a new overpass near Bobcat Stadium. The closures are expected to last two weeks, weather permitting.

All lanes of Loop 82 will be closed between Charles Austin Drive and Mill Street, including the Post Road intersection, from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday nights, and 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. Sunday nights. The closures will run Sept. 5-19, weather permitting. Traffic will detour via Thorpe Lane and Charles Austin Drive.

Road signs have been placed to alert drivers of the closure. Motorists should allow extra time to travel through this area during the affected hours. TxDOT asks the traveling public to be patient and remain aware when traveling through the work zone.
