While construction is tough on everyone, TxDOT is trying to do
everything they can to minimize disruptions.

I-35 CORRIDOR ROAD CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

SUNDAY 9/4 – SATURDAY 9/7


I-35 FROM STASSNEY LANE TO WILLIAM CANNON DRIVE

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek.

New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 mainlanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

Closures are weather permitting

  • I-35 U-Turn bridge closed at William Cannon Dr. and Stassney Ln. | 9 AM until 3 PM Tuesday, September 4 through Thursday, September 6

 

  • Southbound I-35 reduced to one lane between Foremost Dr. and the William Cannon Dr. exit. | 10 PM until 6 AM Tuesday, September 4 through Wednesday, September 5

 

  • I-35 left lane closed in both directions under William Cannon Dr. | 10 PM until 6 AM Thursday, September 6 through Friday, September 7

I-35 AT OLTORF ST.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Improvements include the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improving entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads, constructing new extended entrance/exit lanes for mainlanes and ramps, and adding U-turns in both directions at Oltorf Street.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

Closures are weather permitting

  • Various I-35 frontage road closures in both directions between Oltorf St. and Woodward St. | 8 AM until 5 PM Tuesday, September 4 through Friday, September 7

     

 

  • Northbound I-35 left lane closed between Oltorf St. and Woodland Ave. The Woodward St. and Woodland Ave. entrance ramps are also closed. | 9 PM until 5 AM Tuesday, September 4 through Wednesday, September 5

 

  • Southbound I-35 right lane closed between Oltorf St. and Woodward St. The Woodland Ave. entrance and Woodward St. exit ramps will also be closed. | 10 PM until 6 AM Tuesday, September 4 through Wednesday, September 5

I-35 FROM RUNDBERG LN. TO US 290 EAST

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project includes main-lanes and frontage road reconstruction and the addition of three new flyovers at US 183.

The project also includes reconstruction of the St. Johns Avenue Bridge, the addition of frontage road U-turns on both sides, intersection bypass lanes under St. Johns Avenue in both directions, extended entrance/exit lanes, and ramp and shoulder improvements.

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between US 183 and St. Johns Ave. | 9 AM until 3 PM Tuesday, September 4 through Thursday, September 6

 

  • Powell Ln. closed at I-35. Use Wonsley Dr. | Through September 2018

I-35 AT FM 3406

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The intersection of FM 3406 and the I-35 frontage roads are being improved, and the FM 3406 bridge over I-35 is being reconstructed.

The FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd) bridge will close to eastbound traffic. Westbound traffic will detour to the newly constructed U-turn Bridge. | Until summer 2018, weather permitting.

  • Southbound I-35 right lane closed between RM 1431 and Chisholm Parkway. | 9 PM until 5 AM Wednesday, September 5 through Thursday, September 6

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane at FM 3406. Watch for flaggers. | 9 PM until 5 AM Tuesday, September 4 through Wednesday, September 5

 

  • Various FM 3406 closures at I-35 southbound frontage road. | 8 PM until 5 AM Tuesday, September 4 through Wednesday, September 5

  • Various I-35 closures in both directions between Yarrington Rd. and RM 150. | 9 PM until 5 AM Thursday, September 6 through Friday, September 7

 

  • I-35 left lane closed in both directions at 12th St. | 9 PM until 5 AM Tuesday, September 4 through Wednesday, September 5

 

  • Various southbound I-35 ramp closures between MLK Blvd. and Holly St. | 10 PM until 5 AM Tuesday, September 4 through Wednesday, September 5

 

  • Various northbound I-35 ramp closures between Holly St. and MLK Blvd. | 10 PM until 5 AM Thursday, September 6 through Friday, September 7

I–35 FROM US 79 TO SH 45 NORTH

PROJECT OVERVIEW | New braided ramps (where one ramp crosses over the other) are being constructed along the northbound I-35 mainlanes between Hester’s Crossing and RM 620 to eliminate merging conflicts.

The northbound and southbound intersections of US 79 and the I-35 frontage roads are also being reconstructed to add a third left-turn for westbound US 79.

Closures are weather permitting

  • Northbound I-35 right lane closed between SH 45 and RM 620. The entrance ramp from Hesters Crossing and the RM 620 exit will also be closed. New ramps will open Thursday morning. | 9 PM until 5 AM Wednesday, September 5 through Thursday, September 6
