Downtown Austin Alliance Hires Executive Director For Movability

AUSTIN –Movability (formerly Movability Austin), along with the Downtown Austin Alliance, selected Lisa Kay Pfannenstiel as Movability’s new executive director, effective February 28.

Movability provides mobility options and programs for Central Texas employers and individuals to help reduce traffic congestion. Movability welcomed a record number of members last year. Pfannenstiel will lead the organization as it develops and implements innovative mobility policies and plans.

“Movability’s work is fundamental—not only for the workforce in Central Texas—but also to employees and employers in downtown Austin, which comprises a significant percent of the area’s workforce,” De Peart, president and chief executive officer of the Downtown Austin Alliance, said. “Lisa Kay Pfannenstiel has the experience and fresh ideas to help Movability expand its innovative efforts, which connects more individuals and employers with better ways to commute and reduce time spent in traffic.”

Prior to joining Movability, Pfannenstiel served as director of special events at St. David’s Episcopal Church in downtown Austin. Among the programs she established is  the Commuter Bike Parking Program for downtown workers, which gives bicycle commuters shower facilities and a safe place to store bikes and gear during the work day. Before moving to Austin, Pfannenstiel was the operations supervisor for the transit system in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the motivated and accomplished Movability team,” Pfannenstiel said. “The work Movability is doing with its partners and employers is such an important part of keeping Austin a vibrant, forward-moving city. I’m looking forward to being part of work that’s so critical to the region’s growth and momentum.”

In 2016, Movability Austin’s administration came under the Downtown Austin Alliance’s jurisdiction. That same year, Movability Austin provided strategic mobility consulting services to more than 51,000 employees, representing 20 downtown companies. The City of Austin, Travis County and Capital Metro also support the organization.
