Kinder Morgan Makes First Payment In Kyle Lawsuit Settlement

KYLE, TEXAS  During its regular meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 1, Kyle City Council accepted the first of two payments from Kinder Morgan.

The first payment in the amount of $1.375 million comes to the city under the 2019 settlement agreement between the City of Kyle and the Permian Highway Pipeline, LLC, and Kinder Morgan Texas Pipeline, LLC.

In October of 2019, City Council and City Staff worked with Kinder Morgan to develop a framework that would provide protections to the city that otherwise were not granted through current state and federal regulations.

The settlement agreement called for Kinder Morgan to remit to the city a total of $2.7 million dollars, to protect the city from incurring any undue financial burden caused by the pipeline on existing infrastructure and requires Kinder Morgan to participate in the alleviation of conflicts between the pipeline and future infrastructure projects in the city.

The second installment of the settlement agreement will be paid within the next year, according to Kinder Morgan.
