Man from Dripping Springs subpoenaed for possible involvement in Jan. 6 insurrection

HAYS COUNTY – A Dripping Springs resident was recently subpoenaed by the United States House Select Committee for records and testimony. Retired Army Colonel James P. “Phil” Waldron of Dripping Springs is being investigated to have been involved with efforts to promote claims about fraud in the 2020 election.

According to Select Committee Chairman Bennie G. Thompson, Waldron circulated potential strategies for challenging the results of the 2020 election and was in communication with officials in the Trump White House and Congress discussing his theories in the weeks leading up to the January 6 insurrection at the capitol.

“The document he reportedly provided to Administration officials and Members of Congress is an alarming blueprint for overturning a nationwide election,” said Thompson.

The House Committee says that Waldron reportedly claimed to have visited the White House on multiple occasions after the election, spoken to Mark Meadows “maybe 8 to 10 times,” and briefed several members of Congress on election fraud theories.

The committee also cites that Waldron publicly acknowledged contributing to creating a PowerPoint presentation that was given to Republican Members of Congress on the eve of January 6th. According to reporting, he also participated in meetings at the Willard Hotel in early January 2021.

According to LinkedIn, Waldron is the “Founder, Forklift Driver & Floor Sweeper” at One Shot Spirits in Dripping Springs. He also has a background in Intelligence Analysis, U.S. Department of Defense, Military Aviation, Weapons Handling, and Strategic Planning.

The subpoena asks Waldron to produce the requested documents by January 10, 2022, and appear for a deposition on January 17, 2022.

The letter sent by the House Select Committee to Waldron can be found below.

  1. “being investigated to have been involved with efforts to promote claims about fraud in the 2020 election.”

Not one bit of what is portrayed here is illegal. We have a Constitutional Right to petition the government for redress. We have a civic duty to express our displeasure and potential solutions with our elected representatives. I have zero doubt there was election fraud. I think the majority of Americans believe there was serious sketchiness in the election of Sleepy, Creepy, Dopey, Poopy Joe Biden. His polling numbers betray the thought that he received more votes than even Barry Soetoro. So am I an extremist, terrorist, awaiting my subpoenaed to appear before some kangaroo court?

January 6, 2021 was not an insurrection. It was a protest with a bit of light property damage which is already punishable under current law. And the only person killed that day was Air Force Reservist Ashli Babbitt who was unarmed but still shot point-blank by the Capital Hill PD. That officer, reportedly with a history of losing his service weapon — straight to jail Article 15 for military caught doing the same, got a Congressional Gold Medal.

Come on. We need to grow up and recognize we have a God-Given Right to disagree. So long as no one is being physically harmed (verbally = sticks & stones), let it be.

    1. How would you define “light property damage,” specifically in terms of a maximum amount of damage in monetary terms?

      1. Personally: A few broken windows, moving the furniture back into place, and I’ll even thrown in the carpet/seat cleaning.

“Officially”: A quick Google Search for DC property crime laws says less than $1,000. Take the total damage done, divide it by the total number of people present, and I’d bet you are well below that cut off.

Realistically: There are jurisdictions within this country that are using Prosecutorial Discretion to avoid arresting folks committing similar actions elsewhere. Jan 6, 2021 was a singular event. Yet, these other actions continue to spread.

        1. You are wrong on the number who were killed Jan 6th in the attempt to stop the certification of the election. But here is some more background information on the woman you admire:

As for the damage, check this out. Quite a “bit” more than your “light property damage.”

Or you can just google your own favorite “Q” source. lol

          Have a great day.

          1. Are you implying that Babbitt deserved to die because she got in a fight with another woman in 2016. Sure charges were filed, but then there is this little nugget. — “A judge acquitted Babbitt on the criminal charges.”

            ————————————-
And that little part about believing high ranking Dems engage in sex trafficking. Jeffrey Epstein might have had something to add to that if he wasn’t suicided. Maybe Ghislaine Maxwell will speak up.

          2. No one “deserves” to die.
But, I’m curious. Why did you not mention the officers who died Jan. 6th (or the following days from their injuries). Do their lives not matter to you?

          3. Ms. Knight says, “Why did you not mention the officers who died Jan. 6th or the following days from their injuries”

Answer: Because he was not injured at the event nor was his death related to the event, as you well know. He died due to multiple strokes the day after the event due to a history of systemic blood clots floating around in him which finally lodged in his brain and killed him. But you already know this Ms. Lila, and that’s why a jury would hate you as a witness. No one enjoys getting led down the path by people who know the truth but would rather feed a person lies. Who stands to gain by this? Oops, we forgot, it’s not about truth. It’s all about YOU and all about winning YOUR argument.

          4. There were 5 deaths resulting, directly or indirectly, from the break-in and vandalism at the United States Capitol by protestors. In addition, approximately 140 officers were injured. There was over $1 million in property damage.

I thought everyone was in support of police officers. Guess I was wrong.

Maybe it’s time for people to review the videos of January 6th, 2021.

          5. @Ms. Knight… Per the New York times, of the 5 that died “that day,” Brian Sicknick was the only police officer. Officer Sicknick died of a stroke. The other four were Trump supporters.

So if you have a different list, please provide it. Otherwise, I think we are done here.

          6. Abby thinks Ms. Knight has hit it out of the ballpark with this one : ”There were 5 deaths resulting, directly or indirectly, from the Jan 6th execution of Ashli Babbitt . . ‘

So why did you withheld this top secret information from the authorities Ms. Knight, where did you discover this, internet chat room? Just think, Biden could be pinning a medal on you and sniffing your hair right now..

Idea: Call your friends in the government and tell them maybe a few more COVID booster shots will help your audience stop laughing and start taking this seriously

  2. The many election reviews and recounts done at great expense, by hand and mostly by republicans, have shown there was no election fraud. It is up to the loser to be adult about their loss and stop bringing violence and lies to try and stop the results of an election where Trump lost by over 8 million votes. The loss was contested in hundreds of courts across the country all the way to the Supreme Court where, Trump lost again. Over and over. Not one recount or court case against the Biden win, won. The violence perpetrated at the Capitol, by Trump terrorists, caused tens of millions of dollars in damages, the deaths of four people and the subsequent deaths of several police officers. Trump and his cohorts tried every trick to illegally overthrow a legal election. They did this through the Department of Justice, through Trump employees, Steve Bannon, Giuliani, Trump Jr., Mark meadows and many, many more people. It was and is a conspiracy against the United States of America. This is an attempt at installing fascism and to overthrow our democracy. It was violent, illegal, dishonest and an ongoing terrorist attack. If you think this is simply a game, an attempt to disagree and that we need to “grow up” and allow a sore loser to retain power because he and his insurrectionists want to control our country like Putin controls Russia, then I suggest you move to Russia. Trump was soundly hated by well over one half of the US population who felt he did an awful job as president. He is corrupt, enriched himself at the expense of our country, illegally and he ignored and/or thwarted any attempts to help Americans through a deadly pandemic. He failed as president and most Americans don’t want to live in a right-wing, fascist country, even if Trump supporters don’t care or understand what that means.

    1. Ms. Alden, Please see the article posted here entitled, “TX Secretary of State releases phase 1 progress report on full forensic audit of 2020 general election.” In it you will see hundred of ballots have been called into question. One of the bullet points states…

“Statewide, a total of 509 potential cross-state duplicate votes were cast in the November 2020 General Election – meaning these individuals may have cast a ballot in both Texas and another state. Of those, 9 cast ballots in Collin County, 12 cast ballots in Dallas County, 27 cast ballots in Harris County, and 12 cast ballots in Tarrant County.”

Now, I am encouraged/relieved to hear that its isn’t more widespread. I’m glad we are verifying our voter roles. However, to say there was no election fraud is flat wrong.

    2. Ms. Alden we’re with you. January 6th was an attempt at installing fascism and to overthrow our democracy to prevent more liberation, more slutting, more gay anal pride, more pedophile tranny promotion, more drug addiction, and freedom freedom freedom. The participants of that insurrection are the descendants of the same tyrants who destroyed the sister cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. Yeah, and then they tried blaming that on some god who doesn’t exist. But Biden exists because we believe in Him and He protects us and we will fight to protect him. Hope they stay in prison forever because paradise is just down the road.
