Stylish New Business To Open In Historic Downtown San Marcos
San Marcos will see a special gallery grand opening and celebration commencing from 5 -9 p.m. on Thursday, March 24, 2016 for the new Dahlia Woods Gallery.
Dahlia Woods, a very talented painter in her own right, is also the owner and curator. “This new gallery will feature the best of Texas artists and it’s been a very exciting time for all of us.”
The initial group of Texas artists showing their work at the gallery will include:
- Ceramic sculptures by Clay DeStefano,
- LED-illuminated bas-reliefs by Chris Lattanzio,
- Found-art constructions by Margaret Adie,
- Paintings by Rene Perez, Andrew Wick and Dahlia Woods,
- Metal and mixed-media sculptures by Etty Horowitz,
- Finely wrought art created by visionary Texas artists,
- a revolving group of artists from Texas State University,
- And may more!
The gallery will also include “Bad Boy Books,” a unique selection of crime fiction and other edgy writers from Texas and beyond, curated by award-winning crime fiction writer Jonathan Woods.
The grand opening of the Dahlia Woods Gallery is part of the “Downtown Gallery Night,” an art walk event scheduled for the same evening in historic downtown San Marcos, sponsored by the San Marcos Main Street Association.
Woods, excited to be one of the many new small businesses to open in downtown San Marcos, invited all who would like to “come by and say hi, and check out the art and be a part of San Marcos’ growing art scene.”

Dahlia Woods studied at Art & Design High School in New York City. She holds a BA from Queens College and a Masters in Art and Education from the University of New Hampshire. While living in Dallas, she studied under the renowned painter Bill Komodore at SMU. Her paintings hang in the Dallas Mayor’s Office, the offices of the Dallas Visitors and Convention Bureau and many private collections.
