Zumper: San Marcos Has Lowest Rental Rate Throughout Austin Metro

The Zumper Austin Metro Area Report analyzed active listings in October 2019 across 8 metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest growing rents. The Texas one bedroom median rent was $961 last month.

The Most Expensive

  • Austin was the most expensive city with one bedrooms priced at $1,260.

 

  • Cedar Park rent dropped 0.9% to $1,120 and ranked as the second priciest city.

 

  • Leander was third with rent at $1,090.

The Least Expensive

  • San Marcos ranked as the most affordable city with one bedrooms priced at $900.

 

  • Round Rock was second with rent at $1,020.

 

  • Kyle ranked as third with rent growing 2.0% to $1,040.

The Fastest Growing (Y/Y%)

  • Kyle had the fastest growing rent, up 6.1% since this time last year.

 

  • Austin saw rent climb 4.1%, making it the second fastest growing.

 

  • Georgetown was third with rent growing 2.9%

The Fastest Growing (M/M%)

  • Austin had the largest monthly rental growth rate, up 4.8%.

 

  • Cedar Park rent jumped 2.0% last month, making it the second fastest growing.

 

  • San Marcos ranked as third with rent up 1.0%.

The Zumper Austin Metro Area Report analyzed active listings that hit the market last month. Listings are aggregated by city to calculate median asking rents.
