A Union Pacific train hit a bicyclist who was riding near the tracks in the vicinity of the San Marcos Activity Center Thursday afternoon, fatally injuring the cyclist and blocking traffic on Hopkins both ways near the San Marcos Activity Center.

The collision occurred shortly after 3 p.m. First responders performed CPR on the cyclist, a white male who appeared to be in his early 20’s, at the scene but were unable to revive him. He was declared deceased at the scene.
