Code SMTX Workshop Set
Code SMTX will set the city-wide foundation for any new developments such as housing or businesses coming to San Marcos.
The Planning and Development Services Department is hosting a joint City Council & Planning Commission Workshop Monday, Jan. 30 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Room 3 at the San Marcos Activity Center, 501 E. Hopkins.
It will also be livestreamed at www.sanmarcostx.gov/videos and broadcast on the City’s cable channels: Spectrum Channel 10 and Grande Channel 123-16.
The workshop is focused on how our new development code can support the housing needs of both current and future residents. The workshop will include a presentation focused on what Code SMTX means for existing neighborhoods and a facilitated discussion on the following five topics:
- Development Process
- New Housing Types
- Neighborhood Character
- Material Standards
- Affordable Housing
The workshop will close with a brief presentation detailing the next steps in the Code SMTX process.
In the months ahead, the community will have the opportunity to review and respond to the revised draft during a series of public meetings. A final draft will then be scheduled to go to the City Council for consideration in March and April.
