Boogie Woogie Back To A By-Gone Era With MTS

Braunfels, TX – Experience an evening in the 1940s with Mid-Texas Symphony’s Big Band Blowout presented by Faust Hotel and Brewing Company on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the NB Civic Convention Center.

Swing to the sounds of classic Big Band tunes like “Blue Skies” “You made me Love You” and “In the Mood” and swoon to “Sentimental Journey” and “Stardust.” Sup on a scrumptious meal taken straight from a 1940s Supper club, sip an Old Fashioned on the rocks, dance with your guy or doll, and immerse yourself into a night of orchestral music and magic.

A swell time starts with free swing dance lessons at 6pm with Rob and Diane of Yeah Man, Home of Happy Feet dance lessons.  Known for their easy-going and approachable teaching style, under Rob and Diane’s tutelage newbies are ready to go when the music starts.

Thrill to the sounds of San Antonio Vocal Arts Ensemble (SAVAE) performing vocal standards of the time like “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” “Chattanooga Choo-choo,”and “Our Love.” SAVAE has been featured on national radio shows including NPR’s Performance Today, Sound & Spirit, Latino USA, The Savvy Traveler, and Weekend Edition.

“Oh yeah, beat me eight to the bar,” says MTS Executive Director C.J. Washington.  “That’s 1940s hipster speak for ‘this is so exciting!’ MTS is performing more than 50 of the best-known tunes from the Big Band era. Dinner, dancing, swinging and singing – it is going to be a gas.”

Faust Hotel and Brewing Company will be on hand with their trained mixologists pouring popular cocktails from the period as well as serving some of their locally brewed artisanal beers. One Old Fashioned, a delicious dinner, and a luscious dessert are all included in the ticket price.
