Bobcats And Mavericks To Battle

The 2017-18 men’s and women’s basketball season will feature an 18-game conference slate with men’s and women’s basketball games played as doubleheaders.

New OrleansOn Tuesday, the Sun Belt Conference announced that ESPN2 will air two Friday night men’s basketball rivalry showdowns during the stretch run of conference play. Texas State’s regular season finale in Strahan Coliseum against UTA was one of the contests and will be played on Friday, March 2 at 6 p.m. CT in front of a national audience.

It will be the second time in the last three years that the Bobcats home game against the Mavericks will air on ESPN2. The game will be TXST’s fourth to air on the network in head coach Danny Kaspar’s tenure. 

The all-time series between the two programs has UTA holding a 36-32 edge. Last season, the Bobcats won the season series for the first time since the 2008-09 season, capped off with an 83-62 victory in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament semifinals.

In addition, ESPN has selected Friday, Dec. 29 as its men’s basketball wild card game day. The network will select a game to air on ESPN2 at 6 p.m. CT at minimum 22 days prior to Dec. 29. The games available for selection are:

•         Georgia Southern at Troy

•         Georgia State at South Alabama

•         Louisiana at Little Rock

•         Texas State at Appalachian State

•         ULM at Arkansas State

•         UTA at Coastal Carolina

Games to be aired on ESPN3 will be announced at a later date. Sun Belt Conference institutions aired 125 on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app during the 2016-17 season, a 20 percent increase from the previous year.

The 2017-18 men’s and women’s basketball season will feature an 18-game conference slate with men’s and women’s basketball games played as doubleheaders. All 12 men’s and women’s basketball teams will travel to the 2018 Sun Belt Conference Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships, March 6-11, in New Orleans at Lakefront Arena. It will be the fifth consecutive tournament held in New Orleans.

Season Tickets

Season tickets for 2017-18 Texas State basketball are on sale now. Starting as low as $99 for general admission seating, seating tickets holders gain admission to both men’s and women’s individual contests along with doubleheaders. Reserved season tickets are $130 with special discounts for Bobcat Club donors, recent alumni (2013-17) and T-Association donors. Floor seats are $400 and interested parties should contact the Athletic Ticket Office to be placed on the waiting list. Season ticket payments plans are available.

Single game tickets will go on sale to the general public on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 9 a.m.

The Bobcats open the regular season on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 3 p.m. CT on the road against Air Force. The game will be streamed on ESPN3.
