TxDOT Installs Hefty Concrete Beams In Round Rock
Large Beams Are Set In Round Rock As Part of the I-35 from US 79 to SH 45 North Project
In December, TxDOT installed some of the longest concrete bridge beams in central Texas as part of the I-35 from US 79 to SH 45 North improvement project.
The 150-foot beams were installed as construction continues on the new braided ramps between RM 620 and Hesters Crossing.
The large beams are a major component in the construction of new braided ramps along the northbound I-35 mainlanes. The braided ramps will improve safety by eliminating merging conflicts between vehicles entering and exiting I-35 and SH 45 North.
The ramp improvements are part of a larger I-35 project from US 79 to SH 45 North, which includes intersection upgrades at I-35 and US 79.
The project costs $28.1 million and is expected to be complete in early 2019, weather permitting.
