Flash Flood Watch For Hays County & San Marcos To Go Into Effect Friday Afternoon

A cold front is forecast to move across the area and produce locally heavy rainfall Friday afternoon into Saturday morning.

The National Weather Service has predicted that San Marcos and Hays County will experience heavy amounts of rainfall beginning on Friday during the day and continuing into Friday evening.

According to the National Weather Service, a flash flood watch will go into effect for the Austin-San Antonio Area at noon on Friday, Dec. 7, and end on Saturday, Dec. 8, at noon.

Rainfall levels could reach between 4-5”, and could produce flooding of some creeks, smaller tributaries and low water crossings. Make preparations now and we will update with any changes in the forecast.

A cold front is forecast to move across the area and produce locally heavy rainfall Friday afternoon into Saturday morning. Rainfall amounts of 3 to 5 inches are expected across the eastern Hill Country and along the Interstate 35 corridor and 4 to 6 inches east of Interstate 35 and Interstate 37.

Rainfall should be coming to an end late Friday night from west to east and clear the area by Saturday morning.
