U.S. 183 Road Construction, Closures You Need To Know About For February 23 – March 2

• Need To Know Road Construction Projects •

 

  • Continuously until Monday, March 5, at 9 am, Smith Road will be closed west of US 183. All traffic will detour to Eastgate Road.

 

  • Through March 10 from 7 am to 5 pm, Bluestein west of US 183 will be reduced to one lane. Watch for flaggers.

 

  • Through March 15 from 7 am to 7 pm, Del Monte Road will be closed by one lane between Saxon Lane and Bonnett Street

 

  • Friday (3/2) from 8 pm to 6 am, the eastbound US 290 flyover near Manor/Springdale Road will be closed. Exit Manor/Springdale Road and take the frontage road to the US 290 eastbound frontage road.

 

  • Friday (3/2) from 8 pm to 6 am, the US 183 southbound mainlanes will be reduced to one lane between Manor/Springdale Road and 51st Street

 

  • Friday and Saturday (3/2-3), and Monday through Friday (3/5-9) from 8 pm to 6 am, southbound US 183 at SH 71 will be closed. All southbound traffic will detour by exiting for westbound SH 71, taking the u-turn at E. Riverside Drive, and heading eastbound on SH 71 to the US 183 southbound exit. Expect Delays. If heading to the airport in the late evening/early morning, please plan ahead.

 

  • From Saturday, March 3, at 7 am, until Sunday, March 4, at 10 pm, Thompson Lane will be closed at US 183. Follow signed detour route.

 

  • Monday (3/5) from 8 pm to 6 am, there will be major construction activity at US 183 and SH 71. Northbound US 183 will be closed at SH 71; all northbound traffic will detour by taking the eastbound SH 71 ramp, then exiting at Spirit of Texas Drive, taking the u-turn and heading back on westbound SH 71 to the exit to US 183 north. Expect Delays. The SH 71 eastbound to US 183 northbound ramp will be closed; detour via the u-turn at Spirit of Texas Drive. The SH 71 eastbound mainlanes will be reduced by one lane between E. Riverside Drive and US 183.

 

  • Tuesday (3/6) from 8 pm to 6 am, the SH 71 westbound mainlanes will be reduced to one lane between Old Bastrop Hwy and E. Riverside Drive.

 

  • Tuesday and Wednesday (3/6-7) from 8 pm to 6 am, the US 183 southbound mainlanes will be reduced by one lane between Manor/Springdale Road and 51st Street

 

  • Wednesday through Friday (3/7-9) from 8 pm to 6 am, southbound Airport Blvd will be closed between Levander Loop and US 183. Also, the US 183 southbound mainlanes will be closed over the Colorado River. Traffic will detour over 7th Street. Expect Delays. If heading to the airport in the late evening/early morning, please plan ahead.

 

  • Thursday and Friday (3/8-9) from 8 pm to 6 am, the northbound 5th/7th/Cesar Chavez Street ramp will be closed north of the Colorado River. Follow signed detour.

 

 

• COMING SOON •

A phased reconstruction of the US 183 and Loyola Lane intersection began in September 2017 and will continue through late 2018, weather permitting.

The next phase of construction will begin in early February 2018 and will include a long-term closure of the Loyola Lane crossing over US 183, as well as other impacts, noted in the attached alert.

The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (CTRMA) is an independent government agency created in 2002 to improve the transportation system in Williamson and Travis counties.

According to their website, their mission is “to implement innovative, multi-modal transportation solutions that reduce congestion and create transportation choices that enhance quality of life and economic vitality.”

The Mobility Authority was created and operates under the Texas Transportation Code Chapter 370 and is authorized under state law to implement a wide range of transportation systems including roadways, airports, seaports and transit services.

The Mobility Authority is authorized to issue revenue bonds to fund projects and can utilize user fees and/or taxes to fund operations and repay bonds.
