Water Service Outage Scheduled Next Week

As a precaution, once water service is restored people in the affected are may want to boil their water prior to consumption or use bottled water. 

The City of San Marcos is notifying residents in the area of S. Old Bastrop Hwy, Posey Rd., and Coffee Rd. of a scheduled water service outage for nine hours starting July 12 at 9 p.m.

The outage will affect approximately 500 people and includes all areas in between the intersection of Posey Rd. & Coffee Rd. to the Southridge Estates community located at CenterPoint Rd & Pauls Dr.

The water is planned to be turned off overnight due to construction in the area on Wednesday, July 12 at 9 p.m., and will be turned back on at 6 a.m. Thursday.

This is a precautionary measure and does not necessarily mean that your water is contaminated, only that there is a possibility of contamination due to lack of pressure in the main lines for an extended period.

To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking and ice making can be boiled and cooled prior to consumption.  The water should be brought to a vigorous, rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. 

Satisfactory water quality test results should be received by 5 p.m. on July 14, at which time no further precautionary measures will be needed.
