Victims Of Memorial Weekend Tornadoes, Winds And Flooding Should Apply For Assistance

Hays County Courthouse, San Marcos, TX – Hays County officials today encouraged residents, even those with insurance, to apply for federal disaster assistance in the form of grants, temporary housing, low-interest, long-term loans, unemployment assistance and reimbursement of medical, dental and funeral costs incurred by the events that struck throughout Hays County. Anyone who had damage from tornadoes, straight-line winds, flooding and several storms in Hays and Blanco, Caldwell, Guadalupe, Travis and Williamson counties, among others, is eligible to apply for aid.

Until further notice in-person applications for assistance can be made daily, including Saturdays and Sundays, at:

Victims needing immediate assistance with food, shelter, water or clean-up supplies should visit Wimberley High School’s Bridges Gym, 100 Carney Lane. The Volunteer Resource Center in Wimberley is at 200 Southriver and volunteers or those needing assistance from volunteers should report there between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily, including Saturdays and Sundays. Both Wimberley locations will be open until further notice.

In San Marcos, the donation and distribution center at 200 Springtown Way will be open Friday-Sunday, June 12-15, and will close permanently at 5 p.m. Sunday as services transition to existing area organizations. The Volunteer Resource Center at 206 N. C.M. Allen Parkway, for those who need volunteer assistance and those wanting to volunteer, will also close at 5 p.m. Sunday, June 12, but may reopen at a different location as needs in the community change.
