Austin Water Set To Begin Nueces St. Wastewater Rehabilitation Project

AUSTIN, TX – Austin Water will begin work on the Nueces Street Wastewater Rehabilitation Project on April 27, 2019. The rehabilitation project is intended to extend the service life of the wastewater mains and provide a more reliable wastewater service in the area.

Work is planned along Nueces Street from Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd to 8th Street. The entire project is expected to take about 8 months to complete.

Lane closures and intersection detours will be required. Small sections along Nueces Street will be under construction at a time. As each section is completed, lane closures will move to the next section. Minimal excavation will be required.

Work planned from April 27 thru the end of May will require road closures and parking lane closures along north-bound and south-bound Nueces Street between 15th and 18th Street. Some road closures will be phased in. For example, one southbound lane will be open between 18th Street and 17th Street when the construction begins.

The full road closure will be implemented when work begins in that area. Construction dates are approximate and may change due to unforeseen field conditions or weather.

Please use caution when traveling in this area and follow all traffic warnings and detour signs. Water and wastewater service should not be affected during the project.

Austin Water will provide communication about the project schedule as the project progresses. Sign up to receive project updates by email at this link: http://eepurl.com/gntz5P or by sending an email to emlea.chanslor@austintexas.gov.
