Staff Reports

Following hundreds of hours of investigative work by Kyle Police Department detectives, the body of a woman reported missing in late February was located in Bastrop County on March 25.

Kyle Police received a report of a missing person, an adult female named Yuridia Anaya-Espinosa Nava, on February 23, 2019. Relatives reported she never returned home after leaving for work on the morning of February 22. Her car was found approximately a week later at a convenience store in southeast Austin.

“We extend our deepest sympathies to the family of Ms. Espinosa Nava during this extremely difficult time,” Kyle Police Chief Jeff Barnett said.

He added that the men and women of KPD never gave up the hope that they would find Ms. Espinosa Nava alive.

“Our detectives displayed incredible focus and commitment as they worked tirelessly to find her,” he said. “The search was consistently a top priority for our investigators.”

As the body of Ms. Espinosa Nava was found in Bastrop County, any information related to the investigation into the manner and cause of her death is respectfully deferred to the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO).

Barnett said Kyle PD and BCSO have an excellent working relationship and that will continue with this case. As this is an active investigation, no additional information or comments are available.

According to Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office, shortly after the missing persons report Ms. Espinoza’s vehicle was located in the El Roy community of Travis County. Kyle PD continued their investigation aided by the Texas Rangers.

The investigative leads lead to a suspect who resided in Bastrop County so the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office joined the investigation. On the morning of March 25, 2019, Tomas Sanchez-Solorzano, Hispanic Male, 34, an illegal immigrant from Guanajuato, Mexico, was arrested by the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office for unrelated traffic charges.

A search warrant was executed by Kyle PD, the Bastrop Sheriff’s Office and ICE Agents, on Sanchez-Solorzano’s residence, near Elgin at 110 Camino De Agua Rd. Due to the developing information, the Bastrop Sheriff’s Office became the lead agency in the investigation.

Later in the day, a grave site was located off the Lower Elgin Road in Bastrop County. On Tuesday Morning, March 26, 2019, the body in the grave was confirmed as the missing female, Yuridia Anaya Espinoza.

Tomas Sanchez-Solorzano has been charged with Murder and is being held in the Bastrop Country Jail under a $500,000.00 bond and an ICE detainer.

Kyle PD’s perseverance produced the necessary law enforcement cooperation that helped solve this case yet; all of the agencies involved in this investigation are to be commended for their efforts in solving this crime.
