City Of Buda Water System Receives Superior Rating From TCEQ

BUDA, TX – The City of Buda’s Water System recently received high marks from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

Through the hard work of the City’s Public Works operations and Engineering Professionals, the City has been designated a ‘Superior’ Public Water System by the TCEQ.

To earn this designation, a system must meet and maintain a higher set of standards than are required of all public water systems.

“The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) inspects Buda’s water system every year to ensure that it remains compliant with Federal and State laws,” said Mike Beggs, City of Buda Public Works Director. “TCEQ reviews all of the utility system’s records, documents, and plans, and goes out into the field to inspect the City’s infrastructure.”

“The Superior Water Designation rating means that the City of Buda goes above and beyond the minimum requirements to provide a superior water product to the City’s residents, businesses, and guests,” he continued. “Of the over 7,000 public water systems in Texas, only 13% achieve superior water status. Buda’s utility division is staffed by a small group of very dedicated individuals who take great pride in providing exceptional service to the city’s infrastructure. “

“This is a good testament to our Public Works Department and Water Department. They worked very hard to get this designation,” said Kenneth Williams, City Manager.

The recognition also authorizes the display of Superior Public Water System signs on highways entering the area served by the City of Buda’s Public Water System.
